ART AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE - ZAMBEZIA PROVINCE
We have successfully implemented an art movement in Zambezia province under the invitation of the Network of Men for Change locally known as Rede HOPEM partnered with UNFPA Mozambique and the Swedish Embassy in Maputo.
The art project consisted of a mural painting against gender-based violence with the empowerment and involvement of 25 local young people, who received art coaching in order to transfer techniques and generate ownership and replication of the educative art movement in their communities.
IMPACT:
- COMMUNITY AWARENESS: talking mural paintings educate communities through their message.
- GENERATE SELF-EMPLOYMENT: During the painting process, we train young people in civil and artistic painting so that they can replicate the techniques and earn money.
- URBAN SAFETY AND CLEAN ENVIRONMENT: The art is beneficial for urban environment, despite the beauty, murals help create a safer community in addition to brightening up the day.
