The painting of two murals (the city of Beira and the district of Nhamatanda) is the result of a partnership with the Associação COALIZÃO da Juventude Moçambicana, a youth organization that have received and trained Sebastião Coana as an activist of Geração Biz Program, back in 2005, the same organization provided crucial support for the successful realization of his first artistic exhibition.
In the province of Sofala, the artist Sebastião Coana held two “Masterclass” involving 20 teenagers of both genders (limited number due to the pandemic situation), with the aim of familiarizing them with the universe of arts.
Following Coana, he challenged the group to portray the lives of their peers in the context of the new normal, on small canvas, focusing among several aspects, on the prevention of premature unions and Covid-19, as well as, the promotion of children’s rights and services offered by the government platform SMSBIZ.
“In fact, the purpose of this partnership with COALIZÃO is also to provide teenagers with an opportunity for them to discover their ability to use art as a great potential for their cognitive development, arousing them to an innovative way of facing everything around them, in addition to acquiring a new attitude towards each step and achievements, however small, but above all, it helps them to transform failures into opportunities to succeed in life, making financially independent as I am today”, said Coana.
